These shorts sound incredible!

Have you attended any festivals for shorts? I’ve been to the premiere of independent films, and I’m used to them being packed. How do you gauge film festivals in comparison to larger industry events?

Yes, many! I make one short a year and submit to a ton of fests. Both my '23 short "We Regret To Inform You" and '24 "The Michael C. Jordan Theory" got into eight festivals apiece. Still putting the finishing touches on '25's "Just Jokes."

Trailer for all of the movies mentioned above can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/@matthewlevy51/videos

To answer your question, fests definitely vary in terms of how many people show up. Some have next to no one attend (at a recent one, just my friend and I were the only people in the crowd, none of the other directors even came) or packed (the Coney Island Film Festival is always a party).

They're not great for industry but always a good time to meet fellow strivers!
