Anyone that has known me for the past thirty years knows I quote Crystal Connor’s from Showgirls. I didn’t have any business watching this in middle school. Thanks Blockbuster for teaching us how to swap tapes out of the cases.
I just thought she was really cool in the film. The perspective of a 14 year old. Revisiting Verhorevem’s film years later you realize how young she was. I read about her audition for this character and how she gave her a Texas accent and a backstory. This could have been a stereotypical antagonist but she made that movie.
Linda Perry interviewed her tonight and she talked about how Showgirls is just one of those films you can’t help but watch if it comes on. For me, it was always Gina. As an adult I realize she was just a dancer, but in the movie, her character walks around like she owns the Stardust.
When they opened up the floor for questions I had to ask her. What happened to Crystal Connors after the dancing. Her reply:
You know, I never thought of that. I mean. Of course she always had something. I think she ended up in Florida and there’s a boat. She’s fine.
After three decades, I got an answer to a question that I first wondered as a kid.
I then saw three very dedicated B&N employees organizing a room full of people that wanted photos and had to be told there was a line. I’ve never attended Comic Con but this is the closest I’ve come to being a fan that stands in line.

I think being from Las Vegas gives you a special appreciation for Gina Gershon. Crystal Connors really wasn’t from anywhere, but she was a Vegas local. I remember us all being a block away on Paradise when the Stardust was demolished. I thought, Crystal Connors used to work there.
Alpha Pussy is a term she came up with for being able to stare down adversity. Her short stories are about her projects and how she approached each job. I hope her book does well and leads to some of the projects she outlined tonight.
